Examples: U can hear them slurping coffee in the NEXT ROOM! They hv a habit of staring rudely and nosily at other ppl in public & at U when UR speaking to someone else. Their personal space limit is not like the typical American limit (which is about an arm's length) & they stand two inches from YR face with speaking with U (even if you are female and they are male)? These things appear 2 U 2 be universal within this person’s culture b/c Y've observed many others from the same country doing the same things. BTW these are just a few of the things that are driving me bananas! That said, is it their responsibility 2 know the rules of our culture when they relocate 2 the USA or is it our responsibility to inform them of these cultural rules? FYI before I trvld out of the US I read "Do's and Taboos Around The World" by Roger Axtell. However if a person is in the US from a mostly illiterate cntry can they be expected 2 know/care about our cultural rules? What would U do in these situations?

How do you solve a problem of this type? The best way I can explain is with an example:

A researcher plants 22 seedlings. After one month, independent of the other seedlings, each seedling has a probabilty of .08 of being dead, a probability of .19 of exhibiting slow growth, a probability of .42 of exhibiting medium growth, and a probability of .31 of exhibiting strong growth.

Calculate the probability that after one month:
a)Exactly three seedlings are dead, exactly four exhibit slow growth and exactly six exhibit medium growth.
b)Exactly five seedlings are dead, exactly five exhibit slow growth, and exactly seven exhibit strong growth.
c)No more than two seedlings are dead.


Please don't just give me the answer (this isn't the problem on my assignment so that won't do me any good), I need an explanation on how to solve - thanks in advance!

i went to a school football game drunk and my principal found out so he told my school officer. the officer asked me if i had been drinking and i told him yes, although i did not tell him i consumed any alcohol but i told him id been drinking. so he made me call my mom to pick me up. he told me that i would be issued a citation and suspended on monday. first of all i thought an officer has to issue the citation at the moment you are caught, second off i told him id been drinking i did not say i consumed any alcohol though. anyway i was wondering if he can still give me a citation he has no proof besides the fact that i told him i was drinking, i did not get breathalized or anything

I read this "fact" about sodas:

(this goes to people who usually only drink coke... i usually use to drink 3-4 cans of coke a day and NO water)

---- A person who drinks (that much coke in a day) - stops drinking coke will most likely lose about 15 pounds.... and just by stopping the coke and replacing it with water or juice!!!!!!!
..... i haven't had coke for a month now and i'm proud of it... and i kno i'm not going to just lose the weight like that... i eat healthier... and i've been doing this for a month... i haven't really lost any wieght ... but i feel really good and healthier....:)

I thought our tough approach to terrorism, (most dramatically the preemptive strike on Iraq) was supposed to scare terrorists into submission. Why is Bush using his public appearances to describe how our enemies are multiplying? Do you think he doesn't realize he is implying his actions have backfired. Isn't this approach going to hurt our chances in the next election? Tell him to stop. No one has attacked us since 9/11!!!!!

What do you think? Rumers have been going around for the last year or so that Square-Enix is thinking about remaking FFVII for the PS3 to be issued out a year or two after the system comes out. What do you think? In fact, the PS3 trailer presents a remake of the opening scene from the original FFVII for the PS1. Do you think they will remake it? Should they remake it? Also, if you've seen teh trailers for FF13, don't the kids taht play the main parts look kinda like the grown up versions of the kids from FFVII?

As unfortunate as it is for Asian men, they are at the bottom of the ladder in the dating market particularly in English speaking Western hemisphere. Asian men's lack of success in getting a girlfriend no doubt affects and translates over to other areas of life. One of the obvious reason being that being approved and recongnized by a female is most potent source for creating a postive male image for most men regardless of what race the man is.
However, there are Asian men who are able to have relationship with non-Asian women (namely, Caucasian women). Such would be the "exception", and they are still rare. Very rare. From my observation, majority of such Asian men who are able to get a white girlfriend are those who were born in America, Australia or other Western country, and who speak English as their native language with no Asian accent (most times such Asian men don't speak their parents' Asian language.) Is my observation correct? Can anyone give Asian men, who do not
