Help! I need info that has been bugging me for 3 years. I teach using video clips, and one of the concepts I teach is allusions. There are so many stories that allude (refer to) Star Trek through such lines as "Beam me up Scotty," "Looks like we got us a Klingon, Cap'in," "Scotty, I need warp\more power! (& Scott's reply) "Cap'in, I'm givin' 'er all she's got!" and then the math reference (regarding one of their high tech gadgets) of "This is a powerful instrument, at 1 to the 25th power." I finally have my hands on all three seasons on DVD and I am watching them one at a time, but it is taking FORever! Can someone out there help narrow the field a bit???

I have a friend who is very pretty, intelligent , beutiful personality, bright smile and just an all around great person. She works very hard. Two jobs, while trying to raise 4 children alone. Ages 5, 9,14 and 17. Unfortunatly for her at one point in her life (around 10 yrs ago - she's been 10 years clean) she was using cocaine and it has left her with scars in her face that are a result of the drug abuse (porifirated mucous membranes, permenant rash) In public, people will stare to see if she's tweeking or something. I can tell It makes her very uncomfortable or even insecure at times. She's constantly looking for beuty products to help with her skin. I told her to ignore stares or just stare back, as a result to my advice, it's gotten a little confontational. Why is it that society pre-judges a person based on what they "see" instead of getting to know that person? Could it be that most look for fault in others to justify thier own insecurites? How can I get her to see this?

WE HAVE A GERMAN SHEPARD RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO US, HE HAS ALREADY ATTACKED MY CATS TWICE, AND GONE AFTER MY 3 YEAR OLD SON. LUCKILY I GOT HIM OUT OF HARMS WAY. IT CLEARLY STATES IN THE HOA RULES THAT NO INTIMIDATING BREEDS ARE ALLOWED, PET MUST BE ON A LEASH, AND CANNOT BE OVER 40 POUNDS. HE IS NEVER ON A LEASH WHICH IS WHY HE HAS BEEN FREELY CHASING MY CAT AND SON. I HAVE CALLED THE POLICE AND ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL. THE POLICE KEEP TELLING THERE'S NOTHING THEY CAN DO UNLESS THEY SEE FOR THEMSELVES THE DOG WITHOUT A LEASH, ANIMAL CARE AND CONTROL KEEPS GIVING HIM WARNINGS. NOW THE DOG OWNER HAS BEGAN TO THREATEN ME AND MY HUSBAND ON A DAILY BASIS BY MAKING GESTURES OUT HIS WINDOW AND CALIING US NAMES. WHAT CAN WE DO??? I AM JUST TRING TO KEEP MY FAMILY SAFE.

My Sprint phone's audio receiver has stopped working. In other words, I can hear people talking, but they can't hear me. This presents a problem, as I can't have a conversation on my phone with anyone haha... Has anybody had this problem before? It's an old phone, as it used to be somebody else's before it was mine.... We broke up over a yr ago and stayed good friends until about a few months ago. Shes got a new b/f who the family hates, hes an a$$ to her and she even told me that shes not feeling him nemore (3months ago) yet shes still w/him. Even as "just friends" i was still there for her more than her b/f and would text good morning almost every morning after becoming good friends after the breakup cuz i knew she loved it when i did that and i knew her current b/f didnt do sweet things for her like i used to. So i would text her to make her feel loved and let her know she is loved and she loved it that i would do that. 2 months ago i stopped w/the goodmornings and we havnt talked since like shes mad at me for not being there for her nemore and texting goodmorning when she has a b/f still. So we stopped talking alltogether hoping she would realize what shes missing and letting go of. I know she still thinks of me cuz im close w/her sister and i talk w/her sister alot. Any ideas on what i can do
