well i wont say its nice and peachy, but it really isnt all that bad if you know what you're doing. your school will probably provide you with information on your period and what to expect. i got my period during seventh grade. now i'm going into the 8th grade and its just a regular thing for me. you may get cramps or bloating. some fatigue, but all in all, it can be a good thing. your breasts start to develop, and people start to notice you more. in two months, i went from a size 36 A to a 36 B.
it does have its ups and downs. for instance, if its your first time, you probably shouldnt go swimming. tampons work, but wait until you're pretty much regular to use them. its a bit more comforting. your flow stops in water but as soon as you get out, it starts again.
i wouldnt worry about it to much. when it happens, it happens. its the defining moment between girl and young lady. enjoy it!

No fear, my young friend. I didn't get mine until the summer before 9th grade... and I've been hating it ever since. You'll generally have a mild backache or abdominal aching (kinda like diarrhea cramps) just before you start. You may also experience water weight gain (aka bloating), which makes your pants waist a little tighter, and maybe your socks or shoes a little tight too. The "salty-crunchy munchies" the few days before hand don't make things any easier.
When I was younger, I felt nauseous sometimes, and my vulva would actually ache when it was really heavy. I don't have that now, though, at 30 yrs old.
Best bet for you is to see your pediatrician. She can help you guess when you might start menstruating by looking at your body mass index and feeling around your abdomen for the size of you uterus.
Enjoy the freedom while you can!

I hate it! Just bc i dont have a mother around and its kinda embarassing to ask my dad. I usually dont have it on the same day every month. It last for around 8 days but my friends only last 3. So hopefully u get lucky and have short ones. Try birth control so u'll hve less period problems.

My father is a doctor.
It's normal to get your period between the ages of 11 and 16 to 17.
If u don't get it by then,u should be conserned.
