Are you sure the gas cap is getting tightened? If it is, make sure you and whoever else drives it does not leave the car running while filling the gas tank. When a car is idling, the computer runs a test to check for gas tank leaks, and if the cap is off... the check engine light comes on. But, as far as the purge code goes, I would put the code into a search engine with the year and model, and see what comes up. If you can get the code, email it to me. Purge codes are usually the purge solenoid, or a computer reprogram issue.

i'm gonna take a wild stab at this and say that who ever worked on it didn't fix the problem, just threw a part at it.
A lot of places i've heard, are guilty of this, if they can't figure the problem out, they'll just start replacing things till they get it right. Gives us real mechanic's a bad name.
If you could give me the codes that are present, I might be able to figure out your problem.
