OK -- All of you creative thinkers, I could use some help. I am redoing my kitchen, but I don't want it to be ordinary... the cabinents will be natual maple with roman arches in the doors, the floor kind of a blue-ish gray ceramic tile, hoscotched. I was thinking of the walls a dark blue (clean slate in Dunn Edwards)to contrast the cabinents. I am not attached to the color choice as we haven't painted yet, so I am open to suggestions.
So here is where I get stuck... I have high ceilings which means a lot of vertical wall space to fill up. I love Americana type paintings, Normon Rockwell and of course "I love Lucy" So, how do I run with that theme? Can I combine all those different types of art, or should I just stick to one? I don't want it to appear tacky, too "country" or too "retro". I thought I might be able to comine the three styles/art with careful planning but don't know how. While I could choose enough art to fill the entire space, I don't want my kitchen to look like an art gallery, so I am looking for some creative accesories. But, I don't want so many novely accesories that it looks like "Joes Crab Shack" Also, I thought I could take my three favorite "I love Lucy" posters and do one of those triple groupings (for those of you who know LUCY -- the wine press scene, the candy job scene and of course the vitameatavegigan scene)
So, any ideas???? I would love to hear any that y'all might have. One idea can spark an idea in another, so keep those ideas coming...
Thanks.
