I like them both....but I would have to say the best is my husbands CHILI..^_^

While I enjoy the process of making my homemade chili-- chopping up the chuck roast into bite-size pieces, picking a different tomato for the base each time, and experimenting to get the right mix of pepper powders and fresh peppers-- I must confess that I love soup and souping more. There's very little more gratifying then working on a soup from scratch for 24+hours and experiencing it turn out well. The same magic has never happened with Chili for me. There's just something about the babysitting of the processes in soupmaking that makes soup win out over chili for me.
Why make you own soup? You can eliminate all the salt and preservatives that the soup companies (almost all of them) with which they insist on crapping up their products.
I love a good chili, but the opportunities and varieties of soup are endless. Chili is chili, and is always chili (except I don't do the bean thing).

I love chilli and soups but dont care much for the cans, I make home made fresh, all kinds, my favorite soup is chicken noodle, I grow my own chilli peppers and they really give a good kick and taste, I like alot of different beans in it, the more beans and beef the better.

It depends on who picked the beans and what's in the soup. I don't think they are anything special out of the can but if you've got a slow cooker and you add the ingredients as you please, both can be heavenly. I prefer stew with bison meat in it, potatoes, carrots and a few select spices. Oh yeah, baby....
