Al Gore's flood hasn't come yet, though according to him it will arrive soon unless we make drastic changes to our current way of living. It won't swallow the earth, but will flood low-lying areas such as coast lines and some islands. This will happen globally. Of course, Noah's flood has come and gone. Remember in the Bible how people mocked Noah up until the rains began? If you read some of the responses to Al Gore's recent featured question, you'll witness people mocking him. I just wondered if anyone here saw a parallel between the people in each case. I understand some people read the story of Noah literally, while others think of it as a myth or fable. I thought I'd share this thought of mine with you because when I see different ideas on Y!A, I enjoy thinking about them--and sometimes even responding. I posted this under Society & Culture/Religion & Spirituality too.

I have no romantic impressions of war but I am single with no children and feel like I should be there as much as these kids. my class was arguing about it they get paid a lot of money just to play a game well then someone said they could get hurt but they get paid so much money they chould an can probably get it fixed I don't really think they should get paid for playing a game!!! I play sport how come I don't get paid????

I started having symptoms on Sunday. I have been soaking and applying medication, however the swelling has NOT gone down. It's not any bigger but it's not getting smaller. Today makes 5 days that I have been suffering. I have to sit for long periods of time and then stand for long periods of time for my job. Is this causing it to last longer than the usual 2-3 days?

To me that just makes me shiver when I hear someone say that to describe someone else. It makes them sound old, tough and bitter. I don't think it's an appropriate term to use, especially about a lady. I could be wrong and there may be a lot of you who disagree with me.

My cousin who is about 9 years old does not see her mom because her mom lost custody of her; she was unable to support her daughter. The mom has no permanent residence and was unable to make sure her daughter was getting to school.
My cousin's father has a grudge against the mother and takes it out on my cousin: she is basically being shunned and ignored when matters come up that involve her mother. The mother and father are on very bad terms.
So... this month it was my cousin's mother's birthday and she wanted to send her a card (she still loves her mother very much because when she was able to take care of her, she was a great mother). So my grandma tried to help her track down her mom, she could not even find close family members on the mother's side. So she told my cousin to ask her mom's ex-boyfriend who is the father of my cousin's half-brother. He ended up telling my cousin's dad and he got FURIOUS with my grandma.
Was it wrong my grandma got involved? What would you have done?

I LOVE Luke & Lorelai together!!!!!!!!! I HATE ALL of Lorelai's boyfriends except Max & Christopher, I don't like Max, but I respect him, well, I respect him enough not to have the urge to claw his face out! Also, with Chris, I don't just hate him, I DESPISE HIS SOUL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The only good thing he's ever given Lorelai is Rory. Anyway, as I was saying, I think Luke & Lorelai make a great couple, I just wish all the extra baggage would diasppear, you know, Anna, Chris, Gigi, April.... The air-pockets can be peeled and the paint along with the old paint underneath comes right off exposing the sheetrock. When I pull back the paint, it's so thick (1mm) that it feels like leather. Now I have to repaint. What should I do to ensure no more peeling occurs???
