Al Gore's flood hasn't come yet, though according to him it will arrive soon unless we make drastic changes to our current way of living. It won't swallow the earth, but will flood low-lying areas such as coast lines and some islands. This will happen globally. Of course, Noah's flood has come and gone. Remember in the Bible how people mocked Noah up until the rains began? If you read some of the responses to Al Gore's recent featured question, you'll witness people mocking him. I just wondered if anyone here saw a parallel between the people in each case. I understand some people read the story of Noah literally, while others think of it as a myth or fable. I thought I'd share this thought of mine with you because when I see different ideas on Y!A, I enjoy thinking about them--and sometimes even responding. I posted this under Society & Culture/Religion & Spirituality too.

anniemay123-I put the question over here too because some people see the story of Noah as a myth. People who see the story of Noah as a myth may have different ideas for me. Frankly, I was curious. Yep, I'm done posting the same question. You can let it go too dear. Thanks for calling me young again! You're too kind. : )

It would be a better parallel if God spoke to Al Gore and told him to make his movie. But he has not made that claim. Also, God intended to flood the earth and their was not much we could do about it. Al claims we can change the course and stop these events from happening. So no, I do not see the similiarities.

How many times today are you going to ask this SAME question my young liberal lemming?
The 23 answers you got when you asked the same thing 23 hours ago didn't give you the answer you wanted, so you asked again.
Al Gore is NO NOAH. He's a hack, self serving, has been politician with no scientific facts to support his "sky is falling" chicken little hysteria.

p.s. There is physical scientific prove of the flood and the ark at Mt Ararat, no myth.
I assumed you were young as mostly the young and naive get sucked into the acute bull that the ilk of Al Gore propagate.
30 years ago the same left wing fanatics were propagating a second ice age, now it's global warming, in 30 years it'll be another ice age. It's a ploy to get you to react emotionally, rather than thinking with logic and it works really well.

75 % of all fresh water is locked in ice and melting,
in the first place this means a huge fresh water loss to the whole planet

the north pole melting will have no effect because it is ice that is already in the water .
but ,Green land ,and the Southpole are something else
these are billions of tons of water .ice that is more than 2 kilometers thick

in south Africa on the high veld 5000 ft up are mountains shaped by water flow in between them

the supposed remains of Noah's ark.the huge petrified beams of what used to be wood ,have been found high up in the highest mountain of Irak

with this in mind
a real Water world ,that could be a result of ,maybe nuclear explosions,Global Warming or a shift in the Earths crust ,
is not all that crazy for a possibility.

this planet is a closed system
all the water that was here before is still here
it is just in different places for now

and man has done a lot ,of moving it about
as well as affecting the natural movements

i answered Gore question about Global warming
you can see there ,what i said ,
could be some of the solutions

Well, I suppose there are a few differences. One of our answers is very smart: Noah had a much more reputable source.

But Noah stated a fact: God is going to bring a flood. CrisisAl is cherrypicking scientific data that appears to point to a flood. As Kierkegaard points out, even though God Himself is absolute, there is no way Noah was sure (Bill Cosby portrays this fact as well); by contrast, CrisisAl and his gang are all certain it is going to happen.

Lastly, simple science eliminates the flood scenario. Here's a test: fill a glass up with ice, then fill it with water. Wait for the ice to melt - does the glass overflow? Does the water rise or drop? The icecap is one big ice cube ... it is floating in the oceans ... do the test and see how silly CrisisAl is.

Hello, don't forget - Noah's knowledge of the global flood was God-given (infallible). Gore's knowledge of the global warming is man-given (fallible). It is good to be cautious, and it is great to protect the environment. In fact God told us to be the stewarts of His creation, so we're called to help it. Back on track though, Noah and Gore really aren't fighting the same battle; Gore's flood is based on evidence that is still very loose. But I've gotta admit, I'm one of the guys that make a little fun of Gore (Ex. "his idea doesn't hold water").

I am not old enought to know anyone that hung out with Noah. J/K. But remember the rainbow as a promise that the earth will never be destroyed by water again

I think it is entirely appropriate that your question on Al Gore and Global Warming are under the heading, "Mythology and Folklore"

I never met Noah, but I trust his source.

I've always preferred my science to come from scientists not from celebrities and politicians.

Maybe we should be building new a new arc. Read this:

These are probably the biggest new Arcs we'll see for a while:

This would be a really splendid way to go if it gets completed before the next great flood:

It is far worse than that. They are attacking him and Global Warming for political and financial gain and ignoring the clear threat that is backed up by extensive scientific research.
