I actually own several "Greatest Hits" albums.....but to tell the truth, while two of my three favourite artists technically have "Greatest Hits" albums, to fully appreciate their music you really need to listen to the original albums in their entirety, not just bits and pieces thrown together into an artificial collection. Those two are Pink Floyd and The Who.....and if you know them, i think you'll know what i mean. My other favourite artist is Stevie Ray Vaughan.....and while i prefer to listen to his music in album form, it is a much better fit for the "Greatest Hits" format.
(One problem with the "Greatest Hits" format is that it usually leaves out some of the artist's better tunes.....and throws in a few you've never heard before. Now why *is* that?)

I find that greatest hit albums are worth while to own especially with bands that have lasted to date that came out of late 80' & 90's. But, the question should be " What is the best live greatest album?" My response, Peter Frampton Live. That album is the only album that is "Live" that my ears will listen to. But that is my opinion.
