My wife and I have never been there, and it's our honeymoon / her birthday gift. We will be in DC from 8/10 - 8/13. I know the American History museum at the Smithsonian is under renovations. We have reservations at 15 Ria and Kinkheads. Any advice on which monuments to see and times?

My boyfriend and I are going to Washington DC at the end of August for 3 days and we are staying at a hotel on Hersey Ave.

What is the best way to get to all the sites?

We want to be able to stay at each site for as long as we want.

Can you see everything in 2 days?

We really want to avoid getting a car

It's near the Maryland state line close to North Capitol Street, and it has an outdoor area with sand and palm trees out back. I only went once but want to return.

Can I just walk over a bridge to get to the Arlington cemetery or are they just bridges for cars? If so, how can I get over the river?

My boyfriend is supposed to be coming to visit me tonight, but thanks to Greyhound, he won't get here until after the Metro closes. (Guestimated TOA is roughly 1AM)

Is there any way to get him from the Greyhound Station (located by Union Station), to Ballston Station at this time of night, or morning, or whatever you want to call it? I have a feeling a cab would cost a buttload of money, which we don't exactly have, and I don't have a car, as the transmission went a few days ago.

I'm inclined to take the train, having taken the train between NYC and Boston; it's fun, and DC is one stop further on that line. I'm planning to visit a friend in DC in the fall and thinking of taking the train. A friend of mine says the train is a waste of $ and the bus is a better deal. I don't mind spending a little bit extra for a better experience. But what do you think? Have you taken both the bus and the train? How do they compare?

I'm doing a report on the "Mall" and I don't exactly know what it is. I don't get whether it is all of the monuments that consist of the "Mall" or whether it is a separte object. And No I am not talking about a shopping mall because I know for a fact that it is not that kind of mall.

We will be flying into DC next month and have decided that renting a car might not be a good idea. Do you have any suggestions as to how I can sightsee DC with a 6 month old baby? Also, will taxis allow me to ride with a baby on my lap(Is this even legal)? thanks.
