I am traveling to DC at the end of July with my husband. We are both in our early 30's. We wish to see the typical tourist attractions of DC during the day, but also desire to have something fun to do at night besides sit in the hotel (bars, restaurants, etc., not night clubs). I am wondering the best area of DC to stay to fulfill these requests? I do not mind taking cheap transportation during the day (metro?) but would prefer to be close by things to do at night so we can safely walk to and from these activities. Downtown? Capital area? Georgetown/Foggy Bottom? Dupont Circle? Please advise-I can find deals in all these areas but don't know which one to choose. Thanks!

Any recommendations? My anniversary (2nd) is next weekend and we wanted to go away for the weekend. Somewhere not too crowded, but within driving distance of Washington, D.C. Any suggestions? I could use some help with this.

Went on July 4th weekend 1996 ,watched fireworks from beneath Washington Monument. It was so crowded and distracting couldn't enjoy it. did visit theSmithsonian, you really need a whole day to see what it has to offer. Visited museum of Natural History, interesting. My advice though is not to go on a holiday ,too crowded. The best time we had was when we left and spent a cupla days at Virginia City. It was fun and relaxing.

Going to DC in August and plan on touring around. I've heard bad things about DC, where do I have to watch out and be most cautious? What precautions can I take?

preferably not museums. Apart from the national aquarium, I would like to visit places where there are some involving and activity-oriented attractions, instead of just standing and staring at exhibits.
Also I would like some suggestions on some decent places to eat in Baltimore (Inner Harbor), moderately priced of course and not high-end.

I recently moved to the DC area and am looking for some interesting things to do here. Things that are not the guidebooks or that really capture the Capraesque quality of the city.

I just got a nice job in Arlington VA. I want a one bedroom or a studio in the area possibly on the NW side or the VA side not too far from DC downtown. The place should be accessible by Metro. I have looked around the area but cannot find anything below 700 bucks. Looking to move asap. Any feedback would be appreciated.

My husband & I are going to Washington D.C. and we read on trip reviews that it is better to take the Metrorail in touring D.C.. Our hotel is in Arlington, Virginia (Hyatt Regency Crystal City), so I am worried if taking the Metro is really the best option to see the sights in D.C.
Thank you in advance for your responses.

My friend is convinced it's in Virginia. Because she is from there and we were saying VA had no hockey team...or football team. They just use D.C. I think DC is its own place. (I'm from maryland but lived in DC for a couple years.

What is it? or where is it?

I'm going with a group of college students and we're on a tight budget. We're there for 4 days the first week of August and want to do as much as possible without having to sell a kidney. We'd like info on what sights to see what what to skip. Also, suggestions on what's good to eat there and not a lot of money. I'll love you forever if you can help!!

I've been to Washington DC a couple of times and seen all the major monuments and museums. This week I am going there on a business trip and will have one free dayto look around. Can somebody recommend me some activities other than the above mentioned ones? It does not even have to be very educational or anything, just something interesting to see or do. Thanks!
