the museums are amazing in DC. I went on a group trip about 6 months ago to the Lincoln Memorial and it was an incredible experience. Not also do you learn you also get to see something beautiful and it's something you'll never forget.
I also went to the Holocaust museum it was shocking and incredible. To see actual things that happened to real innocent people was amazing and at the same time it was sad but it will teach to be thankful for everything you have and to be happy you live in a society where things like that dont happen. DC is a very wonderful and beautiful place and if you do go try to do everything!!!!!! You'll enjoy it, trust me! Also go to the Smithsonian. It is a great museum and it is very lively, comfortable, and great. I highly reccomend that you visit these places. Have fun!

Any/all of the museums!
Liberty Bell, Constitution Hall & Betsy Ross House in Philly. Franklin Institute in Philly has the King Tut exhibit thru September, I think.
Museum of American History in DC is closed right now so that's out. Natural History is pretty cool and they've updated their exhibits since my last visit a year ago.

Well, I am from Philly, and a big thing around here is trying to stay alive and not get shot.
If you can pull that off, try South Street, bars and restaurants in Olde city, Art Museum, Franklin Institute.
