I'm doing a report on the "Mall" and I don't exactly know what it is. I don't get whether it is all of the monuments that consist of the "Mall" or whether it is a separte object. And No I am not talking about a shopping mall because I know for a fact that it is not that kind of mall.

The National Mall is an open-area national park in downtown Washington, D.C., the capital of the United States of America. However, the term commonly includes the areas that are officially part of West Potomac Park and Constitution Gardens to the west, and often is taken to refer to the entire area between the Lincoln Memorial and the Capitol, with the Washington Monument providing a division slightly west of the center.

The National Mall is parklike grounds that the monuments are set among. At many times during the year festivals, protests and rallies occur on the Mall, not to mention a variety of sports activities. Many of the Smithsonian Museums are set around the perimeter of it.

I kind of like to think of the National Mall as America's backyard. :)

The monuments are connected by sidewalks, etc. It consists of The Lincoln Memorial, The Vietnam Memorial, The WWII Memorial, and several other things.
All the monuments together make up the mall.
