My Korean friend invited me and a bunch of other friends to her house in California this spring break. I will be the only black person there (the rest are Korean.) They're talking about going to KTown and I'm really excited because I'm really interested in Korean culture/language, but also kind of scared because I know of all the history of racial tensions between blacks and Koreans there.

I will be with a bunch of Korean girls, so that makes me feel a bit better, but I also hear about all these knifings and gang shootings...If I'm walking down the street I'm not going to be cut or shot down or anything, right? Lol...cuz I'm too young to die :)

I am not one to be paranoid, but I have heard Los Angeles is a dangerous city, and I want to know if those holds true for Tourists and the areas tourists usually visit. I may be going to LA in October this year and I want to know that if we are going to Disneyland, the Hollywood Sign, Walk of Fame, Paramount Studios, Six Flags, Griffith Observatory, and the Aquarium of the Pacific.

Are these areas safe, or safe to get to? What are the best and safest ways to get there?

Forgive my ignorance if this is really paranoid.

I'm trying to find an ultra plush, luxury hotel to stay at in Malibu with the great views of the ocean, but when I do a seach nothing seems to come up. Are there no luxury hotels in Malibu to stay at?

Pretty easy question. Good: weather, entertainment, beach (water is little bit too cold though?), jobs?

Bad: pollution, crime, traffic, high cost of living.

Looks like I've answered my own question, but if you disagree or want to add anything, go ahead. I have been to LA, but never lived there. Am considering a move there in the Spring or Summer.

When I searched the internet, I found a plethora of dog-friendly places in Big Bear, but I'd love recommendations from people who have actually stayed in Big Bear with their pooch. I'd prefer to find a cabin type place (for 2 + 1 dog) rather than a hotel room. Thanks!!!

We looked at Sea World and it has an encounter where you can feed them and touch them, but not in the water. Is there anywhere else in LA that has some kind of dolphin encounter, preferably where you can get in the water with them? I've never been to Cali in my life so I have no idea where to begin looking.

I don't want to go during your summer as I can't stand the heat. Also, we don't want to go during your school holidays. So can you please tell me what the temperature is like, say in February/March... or October/ November and if this co-incides with any school Holidays.

I live in LA so I feel really stupid for asking this, but I've heard some people reference the subway system here. I wasn't really aware that we even had a subway system here. As far I knew, everybody just drives. Do people actually use the subway much here?? Is it worth looking into or is driving better?

I'll be in town on Wednesday on business and I would like to take a ride up to Santa Barbara. I'm not too familiar with LA, but someone told me that you take Pacific coast Hwy all the way up into SB. Thanks for the Info!

My family was planning to travel up to Solvang ( it's a Dutch Village with shops, restaurants, etc.) on Sunday, but unfortunately, they are predicting alot of rain all weekend. So, now we're looking for something "rain friendly" to do in So Cal. We live in Riverside County but don't mind driving to L.A, San Diego, etc.

Also, it should be something that takes most of the day, not just "a movie" or something like that. Any suggestions are appreciated! Thanks!
