I'll be in town on Wednesday on business and I would like to take a ride up to Santa Barbara. I'm not too familiar with LA, but someone told me that you take Pacific coast Hwy all the way up into SB. Thanks for the Info!

I think you hinted you wanted to stroll up to Santa Barbara on the scenic route--not the rush there as fast as I can route...SO---simple:

1. Take Santa Monica Blvd (west toward the ocean) from W. Hollywood/Beverly HiIls to (duh) Santa Monica.

2. From Santa Monica (which is on the ocean) take PCH (Pacific Coast Highway)(California Route 1) north--through
Malibu, Ventura and on to Santa Barbara.

3. TO GET BACK REVERSE THESE DIRECTIONS ---just kidding---<---see that's a joke --have fun on your trip...

The Pacific Coast Highway is a very nice drive to Santa Barbara but it takes a little longer (a little over 2 hours)

If you take the 101 freeway it should only take you about an hour and a half.

State Street in Santa Barbara is the main drag with all the resturants, shops, bars etc. The link below is a map. Have fun!

Between 1 hour to 2 if you take the Ventura freeway. Its a hell of a lot longer taking the PCH. . If it rains, don't do it. February is not the best time to be in LA. Its our rain season, but THere hasn't been much yet. Its a scenic drive on the PCH though. I'm not sure, but its well over 2 hours. If I had to guess between 3 hours.

It's 91 miles.

From Wilshire Blvd in Beverly Hills, take I-405 N toward Sacramento, then take the US-101 N exit to Ventura. (Keep following the 101 signs) Then merge onto US-101 N 78 mi.

About one and a half hours, maybe two depending on how fast you drive/traffic. Don't do it during rush hour or you'll get gnarled up in traffic and then it will take longer. And yes, SB is worth the visit, especially on a sunny day.
