I've got this vision in my head that drinking, gambling and wild parties are what "should be done" in Vegas. I'm heading out there February 19-24 with my girlfriend who doesn't drink--she's in AA. Is Vegas still fun without the alcohol?? I don't want to offend her, but I will probably have a few...

Any "non-alcoholic" suggestions on things to do out there would be appreciated!!

We're looking at the middle of July, all of the rates are much cheaper then. My husband and I are looking at Treasure Island, Ny Ny, and Paris...those have the best rates, $99 a night, for that time frame.

Is Henderson Nevada a good place to raise a family? NEVADA RESIDENTS REPLY ONLY?
Good citizens of the great state of Nevada,
Having lived most my life as a US citizen of frigid and dull Michigan, I am planning to move back to the states soon. Portland, Seattle and Las Vegas are my final three considerstions meeting the requirments of an activity full city, good for new small businesses, not frigid in thje winter and relitivly safe for a major city. Vegas is very atractive but I do not think it is a place to raise kids, so Henderson may be my alternative having the same butifull housing, views and landscaping with very afordable apartments that atracted me for rent
According to an opinion of a BESTPLACES.net member, Joe, Henderson has drive by shootings, is dirty infested with flying cockroaches, and a log jam.

TO THE POINT:
1/ Does Henderson have slot machines at every gas station like Vegas?
2/ Are prostitute girls soliciting in plain view?
3/ Are there strip clubs on every corner?
4/ Are the Henderson schools any good(Nevada ranked last)?
5/ Is Henderson full of gettos?
6// Is Henderson dirty dirty anf full of flying insects?
7/ Is Henderson traffic a log jam?

We will be staying on the strip, but not paying for a fancy, larger room. What is the best way to get an upgrade without paying for it? Should I mention that we are getting married, or what?

Monte Carlo, Luxor, Treasure Island, or MGM
Standards-cleanliness, size, service

My fiance wants to stay at the Stratosphere and I want to stay at the Monte Carlo. We would be paying about $20 a night more for where I want to stay.
Which one is better. The location of the Monte Carlo looks better to me for all the action.

I have to stay at the Flamingo hotel for a wedding and am trying to decide if it's worth it for @ $54/night to upgrade to a Go Room. If anybody has stayed at either a regular or a Go room, I'd like to hear your opinion.

Our 5th anniversary is this Aug. 31 and my husband & I would like to go to Las Vegas. Neither of us have been before and need some suggestions on where to stay and what to do while there. (Other than the obvious gambling) Also we are trying to take this trip as cheaply as possible. Any good websites for plane tickets / hotel reservations? would like to leave on Aug. 30 and return on Sept. 2. (Flying from RDU) I realize this is Labor day weekend and rates will be higher, but anyone heard of any good deals out there?

I'm not to familiar with the area and would like to know about the areas around the strip that are suitable for a young single guy trying to start a living in the Vegas area? I heard Henderson is a great location but are there any other location around the strip that are affortable in terms of apartments? Also would there be anytype of apartments that you would suggest?

I'm going on a one night stop to Vegas, but don't want to spend a lot on entertainment. Someone told me in Vegas the casinos give complimentary drinks and chips to everyone who comes in. Any tips?

I am getting married in Vegas at the Stratosphere in July. Most of our guest have children that will be attending.
What is available on the strip with regards to faimily entertainment?

Would the guest with children be better off staying at a hotel like Circus Circus or the Stratosphere?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

I'm trying to buy my flight and hotel package tonight...but I need your help please!!!!!! Since I haven't been there, I'm not sure where to stay. I have narrowed it down to a couple hotels.....circus circus, atrium suites, golden nugget, the startosphere, and the excalibur. Which one of these would you choose? I am going there to party and have a good time, this is NOT for business, so I want to be very close to the strip, so I can walk everywhere. Thanks for you help in advance!!!!
