We will be staying on the strip, but not paying for a fancy, larger room. What is the best way to get an upgrade without paying for it? Should I mention that we are getting married, or what?

Go to Las Vegas when it's slow and the hotel isn't packed to the rafters with gamblers. Avoid special events, large conventions and weekends, if the hotel is full they can't give you what they don't have

The $20 trick works sometimes. When you go to check in have a $20 in your hand so that it's barely visible to the check in clerk. Of course you ask in a nice way, "it's our >fill in the blank<" we were wondering if you would have an upgrade available>it's best if you know a little about the hotel and what they might have in the way of an upgrade(jacuzzu suite - room with a view - etc) ..The clerk is going to say, no/I can't do that/it will cost you >these mean you're out of luck, if on the other hand she/he says let me take a look >you have a very good chance. If you get that upgrade, and when the transaction is complete, as she/he hands you the rooms keys, you say "thank you very much" and give him/her the $20 handshake. Don't be obvious!

If you give them a chance to and give them the opportunity to do you a favor, you have a great chance of getting that upgrade.

Staying at a hotel that has a high percentage of rooms that you can possible upgrade to does not hurt.

I know this is sexist, but it's "generally" true, if the check in clerk is male have the female ask and vice versa..

I'm going to tell you what happened to me this past December, maybe you can gain something from it. I had a reservation for 9 nights at the Orleans, (I had already been in LV for 6 days). When I arrived the front desk was extremely busy, >She ask for my name and credit card, >I have stayed at the Orleans for years and they always ask if I have any request. Not this time it was POW here are your keys. When I got to the room I had a wonderful view of a wall, so I just set my bags inside the door, went and got me a bite to eat and played some video poker for a couple of hours.

Then, when the front desk was clear, I thought I would give it another try. I explained what had happened earlier, that they had been extremely busy, etc, that the room I was in had a wall for a "view" and I wanted to know if there wasn't something with a view of the strip available, that I usually ask for a room on the 15th-19th floors, room #'s such and such. She was very nice, took a look and put me in a room with an incredible view. She received the handshake, my thanks, and a gift later in my stay.

I "allowed" them to do me a favor, if you get mad/upset/frustrated you will lose. Keep your cool no matter what, be nice, be understanding of their situation, and you will have a very good chance of ending up with something nice...

First, ignore the "comp" card answer. Wynn is probably the most popular hotel in Las Vegas right now so if you're going to be here on a weekend it's going to be tough to get an upgrade, but if you slip the front desk guy a twenty you should be able to at least get a decent view. Of course get a players club card (at Wynn its called a Red Card, red is considered lucky among Asian players) it will also be your room card and the more you play the more you will get "comped", and if you loose enough money they might even "comp" your room. Even better loose enough money they'll pickup the tab for your flight Just don't forget that Wynn is also the most expensive hotel in town right now so you'll have to gamble quite a bit, if you play slots or table games make sure you put in at least 4 hours worth of gambling per day. Also if you play table games ask how much you should bet to get "rated" and play at that level. I can tell you that at most casinos you'll have to play at least $25 per hand to even get attention from a pit boss. Also check with the front desk periodically to see if any rooms have become available, also if you've been gambling talk to a Casino Host and they might be able to do something for you, but without gambling forget about an upgrade. Good luck and don't loose too much money!

Tell the hotel that you're getting married, and ask if they offer any special rooms and/or rates for couples in Vegas for their wedding or honeymoon. Some hotels do and some don't, and it may depend on who you're asking, but its worth a call.

If they say no, ask again when you check in. Be sure to look all in love, and like you're going to spend a lot of money. :)

1. Up grades aren't that expensive anyway.
2. Just ask them for a free upgrade and definitely tell them you just got married and are on your honeymoon.
3. Don't ask them at peak times..like weekends, when Vegas is packed....

I don't know about these peeps with there "Vegas Tricks" advice.
They give me the willies. Maybe it's just me....LOL

Ask.

Explain you're getting married - bonus points if you do it on site where you're staying. Ask if they can do anything to make it more special an occasion. If they can do it, they will.
