You have a better chance of saving money if you book as far in advance as possible, then keep looking right up until you leave for a better rate. You will save a considerable amount of money if you go Sunday through Thursday and avoid weekends when room rates are at their highest. Special events and conventions will also adversely affect room rates.

Sign up for e-mail updates on any hotels web site that you are interested in - the hotel will send you their promotions - usually a month or two in advance..

A hotel web site may have a calendar with room rates several months out, and they may have specials/hot deals(etc) but promotional rates are for rooms that they could not sell at these "special" rates and you will get a much lower rate by taking the time to sign up for these promotional rates..I have stayed for rates as low as $15 and that was for Friday & Saturday night too, I stayed 10 nights for $150 and this was for a very nice hotel. Or $9 , not $9 for one night but, the promo was buy the first night for $9 get the second night free..These were NOT marketing offers for my casino play, they were hotel e-mail promotions that I signed up for..

If you intend to gamble, be sure and sign up for and use the slot club card at any casino you play in. It never hurts, and often leads to future offers of rooms, either free or at reduced rates. The marketing/promotions dept sends out room offers anywhere form 1 month to sometimes 3 or 4 months in advance. Rarely do you get an offer of rooms any futher in advance than that.

To find great deals, it does not hurt to be persistent. I'm already holding a room at the Gold Coast for next December 16th-26th 10 nights for a total of $224>rate found on travelworm 1/24 - and I'm holding rooms for May 28th-June1st at the Orleans at $24 a night>rate found 11/9 on travelworm...
