best sites to check room rates

it's best to compare the travel site to the hotels web site to see which has the best rate. Many LV hotels will price match, if the travel sites have a better rate.

http://www.harrahs.com > best rate by 25%

I have always found it cheaper to book hotel and air separate. I'm willing to work at it though. >Find a good deal, book the room through the hotel as far in advance as possible. Then, keep on looking right up until you leave for a better deal. I have been holding rooms for May/June(15 nights) since November - I have 10 nights for December> booked last month- If/when I find a better deal or receive comp room offers I will adjust the reservation(s)

If you buy an airline(etc) LV package deal, you're stuck at that price. If you buy through the hotel you can change your reservation if/when you find a better deal, plus, if you're a player the hotel can reduce the rate or comp your room if you buy through them.

To save money, avoid special events large conventions and weekends. You can find 3 star hotels for $25 if you go at slow times, that same room can be over $200 at the "wrong" time. 4 star hotels can be had for $49 , during big events that same room might run you $300-$400...

I will agree, if you lose everything, you're going to have problems, duh. Hang onto your wallet/purse with your DL and hotel confirmation numbers and you will not have a problem. I go to LV 2-3 times a year for 2 weeks at a time and usually move at least 3 times from one hotel to another to take advantage of comp nights. I have NEVER had a problem with a hotel reservation in Las Vegas..They always have rooms, they keep rooms in reserve just in case high rollers decide to drop into town. You might end up with an upgrade, you are not going to end up without a room.

Try a Travel Agent, many times we CAN get better pricing, but please when contacting an agent obviously don't go through them if you aren't satisfied, but please don't just get information and go on your own to avoid a service fee. If you find yourself a good agent they put a lot of work into it to find you the best price.

Besides in booking online you have no recourse if something was to happen. I have heard horror stories like you can't imagine! Such as needing to cancel and no money given back. Sometimes things are non-refundable at a certain point yes, but online isn't typically good in going over those penalties with you.

Also had a person call in a panic of being at the airport and they had no ticket. Looked us up in a phone book begging us to help them find out what happened and well we have no control of the record and can't even pull it up.

In all honesty even if I could, I'm not sure I would considering they did it on there own and felt competent at that point and now they are stuck in calling an Orbitz, Expedia, etc 800 # to get it resolved and by that time you maybe missed the flight and lose a hotel night and there not going to refund it. Just TO many problems that could happen!

Anyways, Vegas is great! Have Fun!
