Fremont Street always celebrates the 4th with concerts and of course with their light show> this one will send a chill up and down your spine. They have three or four different light shows celebrating America each night. They rotate them so you will not end up seeing the same one, over and over..

The Fountains of Bellagio >Awesome(patriotic) music and an incredible water display. You will not want to miss this one.

You would think that there are huge celebrations with fireworks from the hotel/casinos, but there really isn't that much. There are some pretty good fireworks shows in the North Vegas and Henderson areas...
Also some street fair, barbeque kinda happenings, but as for big old shoot 'em up from the casinos, no big deal there.
Fremont Street is kinda cheesy any day, more so on the 4th, but alot of people like this sort of stuff. I prefer the strip rather than downtown and tend to skip this area, but you gotta see it at least once in your lifetime.

There will be lots of the "smaller venue" type of concerts, this is when the country, 70's bands, that kind of show happen. They are at places like the Texas and the Cannery and I hear about them on the radio days before, check the online places others mention in vegas questions to see if you can find them.
And don't worry, ITS A DRY HEAT.

that is an extremely busy time. I made the mistake of going 1 time on the 4th. Never again, its always busy there, but forget about renting a car.
The heat is not that bad, its hot, but I have been in places much worse. Drink lots of water, booze is good, but it does not hydrate the body.
Check the vegas.com site for shows that week. If you like crowds and waiting in line for everything then you will love it on july 4.

everything is special in vegas....but on the 4th, its just the fireworks, mega traffic, fully booked expensive hotels, no available rental cars and super long lines at the buffet. free concerts will be around town, usually for the locals. but if you know your way around, your more than welcome to come. just check on kvvu.com...its the news in vegas, they have updates on what on....have fun.
