Are there apartments right near Ohare airport in Chicago? I'm talking within minutes to fifteen minutes to the airport. I might be considering taking an airline job and perfer to live more or less right near the airport. Is the Ohare area of Chicago a decent place?

I've been searching the major travel sites for hotels, but there are so many different areas within Chicago from which to choose, and I don't want to end up getting a hotel far from the places on my itinerary.

It's rather confusing to someone who isn't familiar with the area.
Safety is our main concern, so I'd like to know which hotels offer safe, convenient parking at little or no cost.

We are a young couple, so we're looking for a budget hotel and aren't concerned with luxury since we will barely be there anyways. I just want a clean, safe room with a decent shower (hotel showers always suck).

These are some of the places we'll be visiting, so let me know what area I should look for:

Riviera club
Twisted Spoke
Lincoln Park Zoo
Hard Rock
The Cheescake Factory
Bachelors Grove Cemetery
Navy Pier
Mexican Fine Arts Center
The Alley
Nocturnal Dominion
Medusa's Circle
Layer
Ragstock
Silver Moon
Hancock Observatory
Chinatown
Greektown
Buckingham Fountain

Or can you wear them if it is cold and no snow - do you wear them with pants underneath or do you keep a pair of slacks in the backpack for when you are indoors

Chicago is freakin massive, so I'm trying to find a safe, clean, reasonably cheap happy medium for a hotel.
I'm looking for something close to the Riviera Theatre, but not too far from other places we will visit because I'm guessing that traffic will be hell. I'd prefer a hotel that has safe parking--hopefully free parking on premesis.

Here are a few examples of other places we'll visit:
Lincoln Park Zoo
Bachelors Grove Cemetery
Navy Pier
Twisted Spoke
Cheesecake Factory
The Alley
Greektown
Chinatown

I've always believe he was, it's just the way he talks that makes me think so. But then he mentioned a girlfriend named Sharon, and my mother says he's straight. HOWEVER, today was National Coming Out Day and as men were saying things like, "I was married, had kids, but I knew the whole time I was gay" and DreX is all like..."Well, I tried it too, I felt uncomfortable, out of place, and knew something was wrong" but didn't just outright say he was gay. And he also said something about being in between liking men and women, but again, he never said it outright. So does anyone know? Thanks!

To all you expert Chicago Railway Travelers:
My child and I are flying to Florida next week out of Midway airport. I would like to economize and take the train from my local airport (South Bend) and go directly to Midway. I have never taken any public transportation, so this is posing quite the challenge for me. I would appreciate any information, and the more specific, the better. (Time it would take from point A to point B, cost, etc...) I looked up the information on the transit Chicago website, but got pretty confused. I understand that I have to change trains somewhere, so but unsure of where. Any help you have to offer me would be greatly appreciated!

To start off, I'm planning to go to Schaumburg in November. I'm going to be arriving by bus, but the closest bus stations were in Elgin and Chicago. Elgin in 10-20 miles away, while Chicago is something along the lines of 38-48 miles away, as well as arriving in Elgin is cheaper. However...

Questions:

1.) Does anyone know if there are any AVAILABLE taxi services in Elgin? I searched the yellowpages and could only find services in Chicago.

2.) Does anyone know the taxi fare rates in Chicago if i were to travel 38-48 miles from there to Schaumburg?

I'd of course, prefer to go from Elgin to Schaumburg, instead of Chicago, but if that option isn't there, then suppose I don't have much of a choice?

Thank you in advance for any information received. I appreciate it greatly.

I live in Lake In the Hills and commute to and from my job in Glenview everyday. This is about a 1.5 hour commute each way in rush hour. My wife works in Hoffman Estates. We are looking for a good town to live in somewhere between, but maybe a little up north. We don't like the congestion of Arlington Heights, for instance. We would like a newer home ( < 10 years old) with 3-car garage, full basement, 2000+sqft for around $350k. We want to be in a good school district with no gangs and a good academic reputation. We like being on the boarder of country yet have a Super Target or Best Buy within 20 minutes of us. Does such a place exist or are we looking for something that doesn't exist?

I am looking for a very UNIQUE place to eat in Chicago.
-Something that costs around $20 or less per person (unless it is just absolutely awesome)
-You can wear jeans and nobody gives you the evil eye
-Relaxed atmosphere
-Something WEIRD, UNUSUAL, or THEMED
-Romantic or fun

Just to give you an idea, we are in our early 20's, really laid back, artsy, and love anything odd or eccentric. We're goths, so I don't want to walk into a place wearing a corset and bondage pants only to find that the dress code is formal dinner attire. We'd like to avoid anything "stuffy" or "proper" because we are the exact opposite, but on the other hand we don't want a place that is ordinary either.

-Do the waiters sing or can you dance on the bartop?
-Do you make your own food?
You know-something weird!!!!!!

I love culture and would like to visit Chicago's Chinatown and Greektown (we are REALLY REALLY interested in Greektown).
What are the best authentic shops and dining, and what are some things we absolutely must see?
Are there any places we should avoid or anywhere we shouldn't park or go around dark, etc.?

We're young, we're gothic, and we're going to Chicago! Could someone please suggest some unique, "off the beaten path" things for us to do and see? We are looking for fun, casual dining, music, odd stores, culture--anything aside from the standard tourist fare.
