Chicago is one of the cleanest and most accessible city in the country and if anyone says it's not they're wrong. If anything Chicago is not nearly as costly as San Francisco and some other places and you have an easier time finding a job and depends on your choice of career that puts you ahead of the job competition. You can get mass transit transportation in and outside the city. Los Angeles doesnt have a major train system like the Metra where you can go to another state since they go to Indiana and Wisconsin all day long. The food is delicious you can get a good meal anywhere in the city at all hours of the day and it's inexpensive and suits everyone's tastes. The pizza is probably by far the best in the world since we get a lot of visitors from foreign nations who leave here saying they love the pizza and even Italians from overseas love our pizza since many of the restaurants are owned by actual Italian families and the cozy family environment to many of these places make it nice for people to get a good meal. The activities are great there's something for everyone whether you like Opera or rock concerts they got something that is for everyone young and old. We have some of the most beautiful neighborhoods in the country that holds a lot of historical value to them. So you're hearing it from a native Chicagoan not someone who's from another state telling you how life really is here. Most urban cities have their share of problems, but Chicago's a peach to live here comparing to some places I've been to like Los Angeles.

I'm originally from the other side of Lake Michigan, but would oftentimes go to Chicago for weekend vacations. The weather is really hot in the summer and really cold in the winter. Spring & fall are nice though. Also, they don't call it the "Windy City" for no reason. It can get pretty blustery there in the winter when it's cold and windy! Truthfully, if it weren't for the extreme weather conditions, I'd probably live in Chicago myself.

People are generally friendly. Like in any urban area, you have your share of rude people though.

Cost of living is high, but there are usually plenty of jobs available. You might have to live in the suburbs though and commute to the city.

Depending on where you are coming from, Chicago could be a great place to live. The lake is beautiful, the city is gorgeous and you have great airports, and public transport there.

I hope this has been helpful!

I've been to Chicago a few times and EVERY time I made a comment to one of the passengers that you honestly would need nerve pills just drive around this area! I would take some twenty minutes before leaving for work and some more twenty minutes before going home. Transportation on the highways is that bad! Other than that, it's a really cool town. There are a million places to go to have fun, just don't drive there!!!!

Been there twice, liked it a lot. Thought the city and people where very nice. As for weather I'm from Toronto so pretty much the same. Pizza was the best I've ever had and Wrigley Field the coolest baseball park I've ever been to.

Chocago is filled with lots of fun things to do, great people excellent food, and living is not as bad as like NYC, and or other major cities. I think you would love it. It's an Artist town, Sports, everything. You will love, take a trip there and familiarize yourself with the City. You will love it.

It's overcrowded, overpriced, weather changes every 15 minutes, job market is competitive, and I'm dying to get out of here.

I think my boyfriend foolishly blew all his $$ on a riding mower and now we can't afford to go there to see the King Tut exhibit.
I mean, sheesh! He saw in back in the '70's when it was here. They only had select pieces in select museums. Now it's ALL there together until Jan. of 2007. Now we're too poor to go.
He called me selfish.
Imagine!
Me,
Me, Me
Me, Me. ME!
HAHAHA
