i need something affordable yet relatively safe. nothing North of 60th street

There are a few places on the Southeast side of Chicago, around the South Shore Country Club that are nice. And as someone has mentioned, Hyde park is pretty good. It's only at 55th street so it's not too far from 60th. But if you want to only go as far as that, your choices are pretty limited.

Hyde Park or the Suburbs. Don't bother. Everytime I go to the south side I see all sorts of bad. Actually my friend was at a party down there last week and the police came, but not for the party but because a man was gunned down, dead, in his car outside the house the party was in. If you want affordable but safe, why not the west side like Ukrainian Village, or further north like Rogers Park?

that's said as the Windy city for a reason! even with the indisputable fact that that's a outstanding city, i like it! It has all 4 seasons and the winters can get chilly and snowy. My sought after suburbs are Naperville and Oakbrook yet they're in the some distance West. i have traveled to fairly some huge cities in the international and Chicago is through some distance my sought after! It beats, new york, la, Miami, Paris, London, Rome, Athens through miles!!!!!

You really have a lot to learn and let me clue you in not all of the south side is bad I've lived on the south side all my life and it's starting to change and you can live in Morgan Park or Beverly that's a nice area closer to Indiana. Problem with people like you is that you listen to people who say the south side is bad....you want to see bad go to the west side that's bad.

Texas is on the south side of Chicago. Fort Worth is nice.

i like rockford because chicago is very violent especially if you have kids...i lived there for two years with my aunty and im 14 and say its very bad
