I live in Downers Grove and I think it's a pretty good place to live. The area I live in is very clean and quiet, no noisy, obnoxious neighbors and I feel very safe here. I live about two blocks from the Metra station, and it takes about 30-40 minutes to get to downtown Chicago.

Downers Grove is close to a lot of things, so you don't have to travel very far to either go shopping, to the movies, out to dinner, or whatever. It's close enough to the city to go, but if you live here you don't have all that big city noise and traffic.

It's about a 30-40 minute drive ( depending on traffic ). It's OK but, I thing that there are other neighborhoods that are the same distance that are nicer. Glen Ellyn, Wheaton, Naperville for example. Check them out on the web. Since I grew up in Glen Ellyn ( which is right next door to Wheaton, I can tell you they are on the top 10 list for wealthist towns in the suburbs of Chicago ( not that has anything to do with what your asking ) but, I know they are safe and wonderful places to live

Its suburbs, pretty far from downtown chicago, if you are driving, you face a tough time, commuting would be best with the metra. Its not much of an happening place, quite dull and a contrast to other suburban places and ofcourse the downtown. Greyslake is a better place, since its close to the gurnee mall, a few outlets and ofocurse the six flags.
