I'm considering going to a show at the Ford Center for the Performing Arts/ Oriental Theater (24 Randolph St. Chicago, IL) and I was just wondering if anyone could tell me what some of the closest hotels/motels are? I'm looking for something that would be moderately priced, but definitely not a Motel 6.

Looking for an escape from meetings. Will be passing through for week or so.

Some personal interests - buildings, classical & formal theatre, local culture & history, good food, local curios, shopping. Open to any other suggestions, preferably family orientated.

I will be in Uptown (I think, lol) Chicago for a concert at the Riviera Theatre.. and I am curious if anyone knows of any reasonably priced hotels in this area? I'd like something close to the Riviera (or as close as possible). If I just try to get a room somwhere when I get there would I still need a credit card to get a room or would cash be okay? If I have to have a credit card, would a debit card with the 'Mastercard' symbol on it be acceptable?

Also I'll be travelling from the Greyhound station to that area, approximately how much would taxi/cab fare be? *almost too scared to ask*
