I would suggest Midway for most flights. My parents live in southwest Michigan and I always fly into Chicago when I visit them. I've flown into both airports numerous times, and I can tell you that by far, Midway is easier to get to, their flights are usually on time, and if you are going somewhere that Southwest Airlines flys to...you probably fly cheaper as well.

O'hare is big, out-of-the-way, you have to stop at roughly 10-15 toll booths just to get there. I've never once had a flight leave ON TIME there. Ever! Because it's so big, it's croweded with people and the employees there are stressed and overworked.

My suggestion is Midway...100%

I would recommend O'Hare. Since you live downtown, you can take the Blue Line train directly to the airport. O'Hare is bigger than Midway, but I prefer O'Hare because it seems like it is laid out better and it's more organized. Security is very quick at O'Hare, I usually can get through it in less than five minutes. I mean, granted if you travel on the holidays it would be a lot longer, but that would be the case at either airport.

I've included a link to the Chicago Transit Authority if you do want to take public transportation.

O'Hare is the international airport and one of the busiest in the nation. Midway is the older airport and while it is also busy, it doesn't accomidate nearly the amount of traffic as O'Hare. Savy travelers can save fees and time using Midway over O'Hare. Just make sure that your carrier has a hub at O'Hare or Midway. Your carrier may not be at one or the other airport so the question may be moot.

Midway is less conjusted. However, you might have to pay for this convenience. I find that most airlines charge a little more to fly into midway. Southwest which normally has good fares, fly to Midway.

Ohare is so crowded. One time I flew back into chicago thru Ohare I waited 1.5 hrs for a belt to open for our luggage to deplane. Its absoultely crazy and I try my best not to travel to that airport. Also, the traffic coming in and out that airport is bad, and most airlines have severe flight delays.

Expect O'hare to be busier, but much more to do there during waiting times I use it more often at Midway from an experience spectacle. O'hare is a much larger airport so it may be long walks to gates and such, on the other hand, Midway is the exact opposite

Midway has been around for over 75 yrs but was unused for commercial airlines for about 10 yrs. It still has limited flights. Not all airlines service MDW but it has airlines that don't go to ORD.

MDW is a little closer to you and the distancees to the gates are shorter but after a redesign that took place a couple years ago, those short walks to the gate have been eliminated.

I would search both places for the best schedule of flights for you. ATA or SW might have a more convenient flight that ORD airlines can't give you.

Midway is the lower cost and less-frills airport. You can get flights on the cheaper airlines there, but the major carriers are out of O'Hare. If you're new to the area, stick with O'Hare.

Generally, Midway is considered more manageable because of its smaller size. Also, its closer for people who live south or east of Chicago. However, not all airlines fly out of Midway, so that might affect your decision.

Midway is the much easier airport. It's smaller and quicker to get in and out of. O'Hare can be very problematic....Have a safe flight :)

In my opinion, O'Hare is the nicer airport, but it is busier. Midway has always been cheaper for me.
