What is the weather usually like in Chicago, say aroun November 21-25?? Does it snow yet? My high school band is going there (we're from TX!) and we're gonna be in the state street thanksgiving parade.

Hello,

I am awaiting an offer from a company in Rosemont (next to O'Hare) that I intend to accept. I've been to Chicago three times, but have spent most of my time either near O'Hare or downtown (Loop) so I am largely unfamiliar with other neighborhoods. I expect to have little time to relocate, so I need a crash course!

Here are the parameters: I'm a 26 yr old single male, salary above, love to go to bars/restaurants but HATE commuting to work! Would like to be near the EL. Status is not as big a deal to me as comfort and being financially practical. I expect to drive to work, since the walk to work from the Rosemont blue line stop is a daunting hike through main roads, etc.

I know that Wrigleyville/Lincoln Park etc. is the place to be if you're a young, single professional - but won't I spent half my life in my car back and forth from O'Hare? Is Bucktown/Wicker Park my best bet (on blue line, in between Loop/O'Hare, bars nearby)?

Thanks in advance for your insight!

- J

Is the Amtrak station in Rockford, IL close to downtown Rockford? From the map I looked at, it seems like the station's just outside the major urban area. Can I walk from the train station to the downtown area, and if not, is it easy to use a city bus and/or a taxi?

CHICAGO'S PEOPLE

The people of Chicago - hard-working, proud and representative of America's heritage. Chicago is the heartland of America and it's not so much because of geography but because of its people.

Chicago's diverse in ethnicity, culture, ideals and profession.

Chicago has background and it is its people's background that bring to the forefront a portrait of harmony and togetherness.

Chicago's is not white, is not black, is not brown nor gray - it is a colorful city - and its strength lies in the vibrancy of this spectrum.

Chicago is great not because it was built on the waves of Lake Michigan but built by the waves of immigrants - people of various religion, ethnicity and culture - who, had combined their ambitions and ideals and made Chicago home.

I will be in chicago for a weekend vacation soon. I am drinving there from ohio but will be relying on public transportation once there & will be out late drinking so i need a hotel that isn't too expensive but where i can catch the blue line (or red line) back to it at all hours of the night wasted. the ones downtown are too expensive for me (i'm looking to pay $60-$70/night for 3 nights). i don't mind if the train ride is a little long but would rather not have to transfer much b/c i plan on being drunk. any suggestions?

I've considered moving here because my boyfriend lives there, and the commute is a headache. So far, when I'm up there, it's seems to be an alright area. But, as close as it is to Gary, I wonder if I should be leery about living up there. If anyone lives in this area, and can tell me how safe they feel on a normal basis, Thanks for any help!
