Depends on what your field of study is and how much money you have. Northwestern's law school is in Chicago and is very pretigeous, but DePaul's law school has a great rep too. Then there's the John Marshall Law School downtown which has produces many local judges. The University of Illinois-Chicago is know for its great medical school program. Loyola is a good school for many subjects and might be a little less expensive that the others. Then there's the University of Chicago which is the top in a lot of subjects. Finally, if you're on a tight budget, check out the city colleges. A lot of prominent politicians and business leaders have actually come out of those schools.

I'd say the best (private) schools are Northwestern University, Lake Forest College, Loyola University, and DePaul University, in that order.
However, if you're looking for a top-notch (but highly selective) public school, you can't go wrong with the University of Chicago.

For the public universities, University of Illinois at Chicago is by far the best. UIC is known for its biomedical programs.
For the private universities, it's a close call between Northwestern and University of Chicago.
