I lived in Chicago for about 6 months and I can say that it is one of the greatest cities in the world, people are nice, there is a lot of things to do, salaries are great, cost of living is cheap (compared to other big cities like NY or London)
You can go to the beach and play frizby there!!! it is awesome, yes it is cold in winter, but it could be much worse!! (I live in Canada and it is colder here).
God bless Chicago, I would move there If I'd have american citizenship!!!!!

That is scary. Some areas look like a nuclear bomb was dropped and there are only a few houses left on some blocks. Those ramps where people wait for the trains look like a guaranteed place to get robbed or murdered. I love Lakeshore Drive. The skyline is beautiful and I love the people. Large cities are just not safe and the suburbs are getting to be the same. You can keep it. Not picking on Chicago just any city anymore in America has lost all civility. I am not sure of the area called Chicagoland. Sounds like an amusement park. We usually think of Al Capone and the ganster days. I think of the green water and the beautiful lake and Lakeshore Drive mostly but the desolate areas that look unsafe I would be traumatized to be stranded there. I would rather be stranded in the desert.

I am from Long Island, NY and spent a weekend in Chicago the beginning of October. I stayed in Wheeling but visited the city and surrounding area and thought it to be very nice. The city was amazing. We did alot and I had a great time. I found the people friendly and courteous, the city very clean, and it was terrific. I plan on returning in January.

I just moved here a couple of months ago -- I still don't consider this home yet -- but I love it. People here are ruder and nicer than back home oddly enough. I live in the city which is great. I love not having a car. I love being able to walk to the grocery store. I love all of the crazy people. I still hate tourists.

I live in Florida and had to go to Chicago for work in Jan & Feb.
It's Freakin' COLD. COLD. COLD. COLD.
I can't comprehend how people, given a choice, would live there.
