Chicago is great not because it was built on the waves of Lake Michigan but built by the waves of immigrants - people of various religion, ethnicity and culture - who, had combined their ambitions and ideals and made Chicago home.

Even though the winters are crappy I wouldnt trade anywhere else in the world since Chicago's a great city to live in because it's clean and accessable and millions of people come for that reason to travel in a city where directions are just a stone's throw away and you can sample 42+ different ethnic foods in one place.

Oprah is in Chgo because of geography and a crafty real estate agent who convinced her company to purchase a 90 yr old studio in an area where prices were cheap. She did, and now Harpo and the surrounding area has "skyrocketed" in value...country girl does well in the big city.
