Me and my family want to take a quick 2-3 days vacation in October. We live in Chicago and are planning to drive as we have a 10month old child and a 55 year old person with us.

Can some one suggest places nearby Chicago that can be fun for all of us?

Thanx

Hello,

I'm new in the U.S. and will be driving from Ann Arbor, MI to Chicago. Online map sites give me three alternate routes which I linked below. There's only 15-20 miles difference between them so I'm trying to decide which one to take. The most important thing for me is light traffic and the faster route. But I'm interested to hear any other significant differences (if any) you might list.

I'd appreciate if you could help me choose the best one. Thank you.

A friend told me that it is illegal to drive a pickup truck in downtown Chicago. My main vehicle is a pickup and I have to drive downtown for a conference in November. Is this true?

Considering luxurious but affordable hotels, entertainment (clubbing for ages 18-25), outdoor activities, nice upscale restaurants, and shopping...and some "must sees" of either area.
THANKS FOR YOUR FEEDBACK

I plan to attend my daughter's Naval graduation on Oct.13th. in Great Lakes, Illinois. I live in Central NY, and never had to make arrangements before, such as from airport to hotel, from hotel to Navy base. I see there are hotel/flight packages, but I have no clue what hotel is a good choice within the vacinity of the base. How would I find out transportation arrangements from place to place once I do get into Chicago ahead of time so I know my trip is planned out? Any suggestions???

or not more than 20 minutes away. You know the type of motel you go to get laid in and pay for a few hours instead of a full night.

Is it easy to get from the airport to the convention center via the CRT? I can't tell if the CRT Rosemont station is within the walking distance of the Stephens Center. Would I be better off just taking a cab? and what's the approx. time to get to/from ORD to the convention center?

Thanks in advance!

Looking for budget hotel, private room, not hostel for two nights in Chicago, sometime in October. Are there any budget or one star hotels in Chicago on public transportation route.
My search only turns up hotels in the $200 range or higher. Would like something under $100 per night. Not expecting much. Shared bath ok.
