It is smack in the middle of the Loop, but really mostly near lots of financial and office. Only good shopping within short walkin distance. would be Fields (now Macy's) and less-so at Carsons on S. State St.
Tons of stores north of the river on Michigan Ave.
About a mile walk, or a $5 cab ride.
Great english-style Pub with much better food is right there at your hotel.

There are some great stores on Rush St, Michigan Av and mostly upscale stores like Betsey Johnson and others like Versace and Escada. Google shopping in Chicago and it should give you a list of the best places to shop. If you like outlet mall shopping Gurnee Mills, Kenosha or Michigan City IN

that hotel is smack in the middle of downtown, so you'll be surrounded by ann taylor and the likes..mostly brand name and pretty upscale shops around there-within walking distance-stayed at that hotel last year-very convenient location-
