I always wondered why it's up some days and taken down other days. I heard a rumor that people shoot at it and they have to fix it. I think I once saw bullet holes where it was after it was taken down.

If you don't know what I'm talking about, it's the fortress storage building for the museum of science with a giant inflatable lock on it.

My husband and son (3) will arrive at Boston-Logan Int'l airport at 10:45am on a Sunday and depart for Amsterdam at 7:15pm the same day.

I am looking for ideas and suggestions of sights to see, public transportation options, places to visit during the approximately six hours that we will have to ourselves before we have to hustle back to the airport to clear security again.

Please keep in mind, we will be traveling with our 3 year old son. One goal is to (obviously) exhaust him so that he sleeps for a good portion of the international flight. Another goal is to take in some historic sites.

My friends and I are planning a mini-road trip in April and we have most of the day-time activites for Boston planned. But we would really like to get a chance to see Boston at night too. Are there any good events, music places, night tours etc. for us 17-yr olds. Not interested in any night places that are infested with younger teens. Thanks!

and where are they? On a recent visit, I saw a collection basket for food at the grocery store. I was wondering where they sent it because I have never seen any evidence of poor people on the Vineyard.

I am planning to visit Boston but I don't want a typical tourist's experience. Sure, I'm as interested in the historical aspects of New England as the next guy, but, I also want to experience Boston how it truly is, what are local places I should go, restaurants I should dine in and bars to hang out in.

To put it simply I don't want the Visitor's Bureau tour of the city, I want the local guy's recommendations.

In other words, I want to see Good WIll Hunting and the Departed not Fever Pitch.
