Another vote for the Duck Tours..easy way to sit down and see Boston by land and sea lol. I would also head down to Fanuiel Hall. In there summer there will be street artists outside, and it wall to wall restaurants, individual unique food stalls, shops and pushcarts. It's one of those places that adored by tourists and locals alike cause it's always fun and there's always something good to eat. Add the entertainment and shopping and it has it all. I am trying to remember if that Disney store is still open (they closed so many...but there was a big one there).

And it's right by the waterfront, so if you still have energy you can go walk along it, or even take a boat ride on the Harbor (the short ones are pretty cheap). But then again you are going on a cruise..lucky you!...so maybe another boat trip isn't the right time.

I think the Children's Museum will be open again by then...they are closed now for a major overhaul It is one of the best so if your kids are up for stuff like that, and if they are back open, you might want to combine that with Fanuiel Hall..it's in the same area sort of lol.

And I agree the Museum of Science is a great option too...the Duck Tours dock there, so you might combine that one day. Also the hatch shell along the Charles is not far so you might want to check local events at Boston.com for that date and see if anything is going on.

Have fun both here and on the trip!

If you have children, there's the New England Aquarium & Museum of Science. For some shopping, there's Quincy Market, and quite a few stores at Downtown Crossing. If you like baseball, there's the Red Sox at Fenway Park. There are also many restaurants too but I don't know how good they are. There are also free oldies concerts at the Hatchshell on Saturday nights. Hope this helps and you all enjoy your vacation!

Do the Duck Tour. It's an amphibious vehicle that drives on the street part of the tour, and it goes into the Charles river for the water portion. It's a tour of the city.

The science museum and aquarium are always favorites. The fountain by the christian science center is pretty fun too. While you're there you can check out the mapparium:
