do you plan out every day ahead of time? Do you have reservations for every motel?
Or, do you simply get into your car, and "wing it"?

For years & years, my husband planned out every last detail. How far we would drive each day, have reservations, plan out any museums or tours, etc. And then if the weather was bad, we had to drive X number of miles anyway to reach our destination. Passed places I'd have loved to stop & see as they weren't on our itinerary.

On our last vacation, I insisted there would be NO plans. Just go. Stop when we want. I was happy, he was uncomfortable. He worried every day for fear there might not be a place to stay. ...

One day, it was hard to find a place. He was frantic, telling me "I told you so, I told you! Now what are we supposed to do?" We stopped at a visitor's bureau, and they directed us to the nicest bed & breakfast. It was $100 per night, and I had to pay it as he was so mad at me by then.
It was my favorite vacation, ever.

I know this sounds like a last resort to some, but to me its a lifestyle. Why pay for crappy apartments sharing a room with people you don't even know when you can live out of your car for free. I know, it still sounds bad. But not in my case. I have it all figured out. I would shower at the gym, its 24 hours.I have this storage unit with a mini fridge so I can make sandwiches and a clothes rack for my clothes....which are guarded by plastic. And I also have this Berry blend drink that contains all the vitamins you need a day and plenty more. So food wouldn't cost me too much. And I can plug my laptop, which will be connected to satalitte internet through a mobile card, into my car 12v lighter. And I can sleep in the backseats of my car, I'll just put a car cover on it at night so no one can see me inside. Restrooms are everywhere. The mini fridge has a freezer, I can use a Fridge-to-go to keep waters and sandwiches cool for my car for up to 16 hours! This is a science.

I'm staying at a Hilton, and it says you have to check in at 3PM, but I won't be able to check in, until about 6PM, because of my flight.

Will that be okay?

I called Hol Inn re a reservation today and the agents seem to have been outsourced ? They are very polite , but no one has any idea of geography / how to pronounce american cities.

They will not transfer you to a supervisor / because the supervisor is going to give you the same information they are giving you . LOL .

I was just curious as to why people from other countries choose to vacation in the U.S. I mean compared to all these other places that you could go, with rich history and gorgeous architecture, and a more defined culture than what can be found in the U.S., what draws you to go through the increased hassle of comming here.-by the way I have nothing against living here, just curiouse on why it would be an interesting place to visit.
