do you plan out every day ahead of time? Do you have reservations for every motel?
Or, do you simply get into your car, and "wing it"?

For years & years, my husband planned out every last detail. How far we would drive each day, have reservations, plan out any museums or tours, etc. And then if the weather was bad, we had to drive X number of miles anyway to reach our destination. Passed places I'd have loved to stop & see as they weren't on our itinerary.

On our last vacation, I insisted there would be NO plans. Just go. Stop when we want. I was happy, he was uncomfortable. He worried every day for fear there might not be a place to stay. ...

One day, it was hard to find a place. He was frantic, telling me "I told you so, I told you! Now what are we supposed to do?" We stopped at a visitor's bureau, and they directed us to the nicest bed & breakfast. It was $100 per night, and I had to pay it as he was so mad at me by then.
It was my favorite vacation, ever.

I always wing it. I have been on the road for over a year and a Half. I have made reservations once and it was for the first night that I was on the road. Not once since and I have ever made a reservation and I have never been skunked. I find the freedom to go any direction at any time is what I am actually on the road for. Having the blessing of not knowing where and when you are going to be in any given place is nirvana to me. Try it! You'll like it.

We always go to Japan on vacation. In Japan, it's quite difficult to find a place to stay especially if you want to have Japanese style dinner (room service) without reservation, so we always do the reservation at least one month before we go there. We only planned for accommodations, all other things such as where we go depends on mood on that day.

its good to plan in advance most of the men do because the can have every thing for convenience or
they do not miss any thing in that plan or
cost and time cautious.

the way you have planned is also good, this helps you or him to know what to do it situation arise.(this may waste some time, some money but if you received it perfectly you will have lot of joy in this type, i do this lot of times).

try some more trips taking your responsibility and ask him for suggestions he will also enjoy.
i do that with my wife though she doesnt know any thing what to do but she come with some good alternative ideas which even my brain doesnt work sometimes and they are good.

We always have reservations for the first stop of our trips. After that, it's just wherever we feel like stopping that looks nice.

I love limited planning, you have an idea of where you want to go, and not quite sure how you're gonna get there...always a joy.

He sounds like he's getting stuck in his ways. At least you're still adventurous!
