I traveled to New York City. There I saw many diverse people and events. It was like being in another country for me.
(I was born & raised in a small town in the Southern US)

I have traveled all over the US and one thing that I found out was there is no place like home. And you can feel out of place anywhere you go if it is not what you are use to. Good luck traveling!
