I know this sounds like a last resort to some, but to me its a lifestyle. Why pay for crappy apartments sharing a room with people you don't even know when you can live out of your car for free. I know, it still sounds bad. But not in my case. I have it all figured out. I would shower at the gym, its 24 hours.I have this storage unit with a mini fridge so I can make sandwiches and a clothes rack for my clothes....which are guarded by plastic. And I also have this Berry blend drink that contains all the vitamins you need a day and plenty more. So food wouldn't cost me too much. And I can plug my laptop, which will be connected to satalitte internet through a mobile card, into my car 12v lighter. And I can sleep in the backseats of my car, I'll just put a car cover on it at night so no one can see me inside. Restrooms are everywhere. The mini fridge has a freezer, I can use a Fridge-to-go to keep waters and sandwiches cool for my car for up to 16 hours! This is a science.

I've actually done both. What sucks about doing just the car thing is even if you have a job, you would need some sort of mailing address, sleeping sucks, theres no alarm clock, nothing to do but listen to the radio. On the contrary, what sucks about not having a car is that even if you have a job it woudl require a vehicle. This problem can be resolved though if you live nearby and are within walking distance. Having a home with tv, shower, privacy, and a place to "start" is much better than living out of your car cause you would need to find a home anyway. So get rid of the car and find something in the area. I got a DWI awhile ago and have been without a car for a couple years, you get used to it cause people give you rides and you save a whole bunch of money from insurance and gas, using a bike feels much better. Even when I had my car back then, I didnt do much with it. I could have used a bike to go down the road for a pizza. So in other words, you'll definately be able to improvise if you dont have a car so go with that choice. Its extremely hard to sleep in a car. And besides you can always use a friends car to get to a job if you can make that arrangement.

Very possible. but trade in the car on a dodge van. The Dodge is 6 inches wider than the other vans and you can get a double bed across the rear. build a platform for it for storage of essentials. insulate well.
I traveled an entire winter season in the ski resorts in my van. I would go to friends homes and run in power cords, Electric blanket and space heater to keep things cozy. I had a roll out kitchen that fit under the bed. pop open the rear doors and slide out the kitchen, gas burners and bacon and eggs in the morning. canopies for good and bad weather. roll a carpet out and put out your bean bag chair or inflateable.
I actually had compliments from friends that said they envied me my freedom and life style. The best ski season I ever had.

Why not just get a small travel trailer instead...that way you could park for free wherever its legal to park overnight, or you can park at an rv park and have electricity and running water. You could get an older used one for a reasonable cost. That way you would have a place to keep all of your stuff, a bathroom, a sink and a microwave and a tv. Maybe even a small stove. You could also have a place to stretch out to sleep rather than cramping up in a backseat.

Car is too small and unconfortable, why don't get a RV, then you will enjoy freedom without worrying about safety, legal ,sanitary, neighbor issues, at least a bigger SUV, van for a short period.

No place like a home. Be safe.

its not safe. You'll have a beitch time finding a good place to park. it will be annoying to put a car cover over your vehicle everyday. and what if someone catches you opening your door and coming out of that car cover. that would be imbarrasing now, wouldn't it . you'll freeze to death on cold nights. kids banging on your car or throwin footballs. you'll get some back and neck problems.
