Between Scotland and LA during British Summer time, the difference is -8 hours...I'm not sure if all of California is in the same time zone.

Around 11 hours I would say. California is East of the International Date Line by around 1 to 2 hours. So that would make Scotland 11 hours ahead, unless this answer is out of kilt er.
