The last two times I have stayed in 4 star hotels they were unclean, nothing special and the service was terrible. The last time reception let us go up to our room which had not even been cleaned since the last guests left? Was I wrong in thinking it would be safe to book 4 star accommodation thinking it would definitely be clean and nice?

I am going on my first cruise at the end of this month. Should i take something with me that is hard to part with?......My Laptop Computer. i will be gone for 7days. Is $100.00 dollars a day enough spending money? I am a frugal shopper, so buying designer is out of the question, unless of course it is marked way down, like 75% or more :-) (i am going to belize, honduras, costa maya mexico, and caymen islands)

People always say it's very important for us to learn about other countries' cultures and should travel overseas more often. Do you think we should also learn about our own country as well by travel to other states and coast to learn more about our country first?

Getting married in a few weeks and the honeymoon is a trip to the Bahamas. We have our passports but apparently we only need them to go BACK to the United States. So do we have to go through customs to go to the Bahamas (meaning we have to arrive 90 minutes before departure) or not?

I ask because our timing is somewhat critical since the flight is at 5pm and we were planning on getting to the airport at around 3:45 to 4pm.

My parents have just booked a flight for the three of us to go see my sister in Southampton at xmas and I've been informed by them that I cannot wear boots on the flight. I thought this was a joke but apparently when my sister was visiting last week she was stopped at Edinburgh Airport and told to remove her Caterpillar boots because she could have a device hidden in the thick soles!
I read over the conditions we got with our e-tickets and it seems that this is correct. I usually wear knee high boots in the winter but now I'm going to have to wear shoes or trainers for the flight. Is it just me or is this too much?
I'm not disputing that we all have to be vigilant when travelling but does it really matter if I wear boots or flip flip flops? If someone was determined enough to carry out an act of terrorism such as blowing up a plane surely they would have thought up new ways to hide the devices?
Will the next step be a strip search for everyone or am I just being silly?

My parents live in Canada. They were planning on going to Florida for the winter. Recently, my Dad, who has peripheral artery disease had his medication changed. They won't be travelling to the States now or for the next six months since he can't get insurance because of the change of medicine.

Is there a country that you can go to and have free health care if something happens. They couldn't pay for anything serious. I know it is probably unfair to burdon another country to pay for his possible health care problems, but I am worried that if they don't get away, my Dad will not do any walking at all, which he needs to do to stay healthy. They live out in the country and it's really not good to walk on the road in the winter. And a gym is 1/2 an hour a way, even if they would go. A treadmill was already tried and unsuccessful.

Normally, people loves to go for longer vacation, but I dont understand why in America, workers are just getting 12days a year as leave,compared to other countries 30days is standard so workers can spend more time with distant relatives or travel around USA and abroad.

I have a large Doberman Pinscher that will flying into Mexico City airport and I have no idea what to expect and need any advice I can get. I have done alot of research on the net and got all the paperwork, shipping container, temp. restriction ect, ect ..... The actual experience of plane travel with a pet, much less internationally is daunting at best. I will be flying Delta and pretty much got their procedure figured out. But where do I pick him up at when we land ?? Can the piolit talk to the baggage handlers when we dock to alert therm how to contact me ???
