Getting married in a few weeks and the honeymoon is a trip to the Bahamas. We have our passports but apparently we only need them to go BACK to the United States. So do we have to go through customs to go to the Bahamas (meaning we have to arrive 90 minutes before departure) or not?

I ask because our timing is somewhat critical since the flight is at 5pm and we were planning on getting to the airport at around 3:45 to 4pm.

Well normally they ask for the passengers to check in 2 hours before your plane leave but you dont need to get there EXACTLY 2 hours before. My dad travels in and out of the bahamas and he normally leaves to hours before. Another idea is that you can call the airport and find out.

Hope it helps

p.s congrats!!!!

The time that you need will depend upon the airport that you are flying out of, the time of day that you are leaving, and the day of the week. If you are traveling on a normal workday like Friday, when there are a lot of business travelers the airport will be more crowded and it will take you longer to check in and get through airport security. If you are flying on a weekend less time may be required. If you are flying out of a busy airport, like Hartsfield in Atlanta, DFW in Texas, or O'Hare in Chicago you probably need 90 minutes to two hours. If you are flying out of Las Vegas you need more than 2 hours (been there). Here in Raleigh we can usually get to the airport 30 to 60 minutes before flights and get through security to the gate; because we have a small airport.

Best advice is get there as early as you can, have your passport handy, don't try to carry any liquids on; be prepared to take off your shoes, and pack your keys, neck chains, and coins in your purse or a carry on so you don't delay yourself going through the security screen.

I did (go through customs to go to the Bahamas). I would suggest getting there two hours early.
