Where do you come from? Exchange student in high school or college? If you're Asian, a visit to Europe or the U.S. would be great to experience different culture. If you haven't been to Asia, I would suggest Japan, China and Philippines.

I've been to all three (and have family in Germany) and would suggest Switzerland. It's easy to get around, clean, friendly and well-situated for when you want to travel to other European countries on the weekends. Germany and Ireland are both beautiful countries as well, so no matter which country you stay in, you'll win. Just make sure you fit some time in to visit as many other countries as you can while you're there. You should take full advantage of your opportunity. Have fun!

How well do you speak German (and maybe French)?
If you suck at it and are worried about going to a country where you do not speak the local language, Ireland is the place.
If your German is allright, Germany is OK, but I would prefer Switzerland.
A lot depends on where you will stay. But basicly all three countries are good.

Ireland or Switzerland. Ireland because my family's Irish, or Switzerland because of its beauty and political neutrality. Terrorists aren't likely to attack Switzerland, lol. How paranoid am I? Haha. Good luck, and enjoy yourself. It'll be the trip of a lifetime.
