I've taken bus tours all around Bavaria, Germany and Austria. There are pros and cons. The pros are that you don't have to drive, you won't get lost, no paying for more fuel and you get a tour guide. We had great luck with our guides and the convenience of not having to drive.

But, the cons (to me, anyway) are that you don't get to choose where and when you stop for breaks, and meals (once in Austria we stopped at McDonald's for lunch. McDonald's!!!!! I can eat that here!! I was so upset about it, I wanted more fabulous Bavarian food!). Also, you must leave the attraction at a certain time, even if you aren't done visiting there yet. We were rushed through several castles and I did not get a good enough look at many of the treasures and paintings I was interested in.

The people were, like all groups of people, good and not so good. We met many wonderful people from all over and enjoyed visiting with them. But, there was one particular woman who was extremely overweight and whined and complained LOUDLY and to everyone who was there about how she just couldn't take the walking anymore. Also, there was a couple on our tour who were talking very loudly during the guides talk that no one could hear the info.

So, like most things in life...you take the good with the bad. Keep an open mind and enjoy yourself. I hope you have a wonderful time.
