I am a university student in Turkey. Next year 2008 january i will go to ISCTE/ Lisbon by Erasmus program. Through the whole period i stay in Lisbon and in ISCTE they say that there is no dormitories. But i was wondering, if I start living in an apartment on my own, can I able to meet Portugese people and interact multi-culturally more? Can I enjoy Lisbon just like my own country with my friends?

A few questions rolled into one! :

What is the best way to get from Tavira (or Faro) to Lisboa in Portugal? Is it by rail or coach?

What are the best things to do in Lisboa?

Cheers!

Hi everyone,
Im visiting western Algarve for the 1st with a friend, 1st week of april and we are totally lost. i have been researching on the internet for weeks about places to visit and its has left me more confused than ever! We are definately going to Lagos first and after which we have time for 2 more places. I am keen on carvoeiro it sounds great. Anymore suggestions.? I have looked in to alvor, praia da rocha (but am worried it might b too highrised and tacky with the development). This is sort of what we are looking for:
1. Most important.. Beautiful Beaches
2. NO concrete jungles with high rises!
3. However since we both are in are 20s we would like a bit of a nightlife.. nothing hectic, just a few lively bar options, without the trashiness and maybe some young ppl :)
Sorry for the high demands :) but we've been waiting for this trip to algarve for a long time! Any suggestions would be seriously appreciated.
Any tips on bars restaurants, esp. Accommodation in Lagos? Thanks! :)

I just want to know if it is worth while getting airport transfer or just to just get a taxi from the airport to the hotel. I would be staying at Jardim apartments if that is any help.

I am driving down from Malaga and thought this area looked interesting. However I have not been to Portugal before and only have a few days to chill. I would appreciate it if anybody could tell me the following.
I would rather stay in a hostal than an impersonal hotel as I will be on my own. Is there one close by and are the elcectric points the same as Spain.
Is there a similar menu del dia to Spain and what would you recommend.
I believe there is a ferry, does it run at this time of year mid week,
What would you recommend I see and do. I don't want to drive far but don't mind a little.

Hi everyone! My boyfriend and I want to go away this summer, for a week in early June. We've been looking at Albufeira, but some people have told us it's too much like Benidorm and really tacky, whereas others loved it, so we're a bit confused!

Just to give you an idea of what we want:
1. Hot weather (around 27 degrees C maybe)
2. Good beaches
3. Good nightlife and restaurants
4. At least SOME opportunity to see the sights of a more authentic Portugal, away from the resort
5. Activities and day trips, like zoo, tours, theme park, etc
6. Busy but not absolutely rammed
7. Not full of 'rowdy, bald-headed, beer-bellied, trouble-making English tourists' (that's my boyfriend's input....)

So we just wondered if anyone has been there and if it sounds like a) the right destination for us and b) if we're going at the right time of year (in terms of weather and how busy it is)

Thanks so much! :-)

xx Emmie
