Good choice Fifi

Nicky T is spot on!

Just came from Praia da Rocha and it was gorgeous. Not too busy !

The beach is amazing for pure relaxation and everything is within reach! Restaurants, bars,etc.
Weather is perfect right now! Not boiling hot!

Whilst there, I visited the beaches at Alvor – a bit too windy for me
{no wonder they organise windsurf competitions there!}

Also, visited Ferragudo (a quite fishing village nearby) has a huge lovely beach.

As Nicky says, Portimão is great for river trips and walking around and sampling algarvian sweets.

Stayed at a lovely apartment very close to the beach: http://www.geocities.com/algarve_holiday/

Hope you have a good time in the Algarve!

Yes - I've been to the Algarve - twice! We first stayed at Alvor, a nice little fishing village over on the west side and we enjoyed it so much we went back but further along the coast at Praia da Vau - near Praia da Rocha. Alvor is great if you're looking for a not too busy resort, lovely restaurants outside and the beach is great. Praia da Rocha has a fantastic long sandy beach and not TOO touristy. A beautiful place. The people are extremely friendly and the food is excellent. There is such a nice atmosphere over there, the place is clean. If you get to go to Portimao, there is a lovely cafe in the square with silver chairs that sells italian type ice creams, pancakes covered in huge strawberries and ice cream - delicious! There is a great trip which is called Best of the West - we had a great time and visited Cape St Vincent - which is like the edge of the world - fantastic. We had temperatures of 44 degrees when we went in august which was a bit too hot! If you have the option of air conditioning then take it. We would definitely go again and again! Have a nice trip :-)

im from portugal, ive been to the algarve so many times..
its really a touristy place. nice weather in the summer though. during the winter it gets rain a lot. my friend in faro tells me it rains quite a bit (obviously not like in england but still!)

its got good nightlife.. its really meant for people who wanna party! haha. but you have to choose the right areas otherwise youre gonna end up at the resorts where all the old folk go
