Can anyone please help me out with this? My fiance and I are taking a trip to Amsterdam from November 16 - 23, 2006. I have heard some hints about what the weather might be like (between 40º - 60º during the day; sometimes freezing at night; possibility of wind & rain; but all-around, the weather is more enjoyable than london year-round, or so someone said to me).

What kind of clothing should we take? Since we are from a warm humid Gulf Coast city (Houston, TX), we don't get much weather like Amsterdam does. Would a t-shirt under a winter coat do well, or would my arms still be freezing? Is the cold extremely "biting" at this time of year, or particularly strong?

Any & all tips, clothing suggestions, outfit ideas, etc., that can be given, are welcome!!! Thank you!!!

I will be there for two months starting Apr/07 on business. I've been there once already on vacation, and it was great, but I'm wondering what it's like to actually live there with regards to transportation, people, food, services etc.

I'm going to Europe for a two week vacation, Amsterdam is one of my stops. I'm not a pot smoker but, when in Rome. I just want to add it to my "things I've done" list. Anyway, since i'm not a big smoker I'm affraid to smoke and venture out. I was wondering if I can buy it in a cafe and take it to my room?

Just wondering-
I've read that you eat fried potato chips with mayo on the streets in Amsterdam. Could you please descibe other types of food that you eat? Anything I should absolutely try that I wouldn't find anywhere else? Dank-u-wel!

I know it is widely known that people can and do smoke there in coffee shops but I distinctly remember hearing that it is indeed illegal, though tolerated by police because it pumps so much money into their economy via tourism.
