Can anyone please help me out with this? My fiance and I are taking a trip to Amsterdam from November 16 - 23, 2006. I have heard some hints about what the weather might be like (between 40º - 60º during the day; sometimes freezing at night; possibility of wind & rain; but all-around, the weather is more enjoyable than london year-round, or so someone said to me).

What kind of clothing should we take? Since we are from a warm humid Gulf Coast city (Houston, TX), we don't get much weather like Amsterdam does. Would a t-shirt under a winter coat do well, or would my arms still be freezing? Is the cold extremely "biting" at this time of year, or particularly strong?

Any & all tips, clothing suggestions, outfit ideas, etc., that can be given, are welcome!!! Thank you!!!

I am looking for specific suggestions. Like: a long-sleeved shirt with a warm coat, jeans, and boots? Or a t-shirt under a sweater, under a winter coat, with jeans (my pants of choice, hehe), and sneakers? Thanks.

Wear watertight shoes, warm socks, a winter coat, a t-shirt and a sweater. And pants of course, like jeans or something.
The weather in the Netherlands is not always predictable. Probably it is very wet and around freezing temperature at night.

I live in the Netherlands, and today I had my winter coat on, sneakers, sweater, t-shirt, sleeveless t-shirt under it all, and jeans. And a scarf.
And I wished I had my woolen hat on as well, and something to warm my hands.

Yesterday I dressed the same, but it was more mild and I was a bit overdressed.

When you go the weather will be probably aproximately the same.

I would sugest a warm coat and clothes also rain gear just in case, it does have a tendancy to rain there that time of year as apose to snow.
