I am spending a day with my friend from Amsterdam. I have already been to Amsterdam, Maastricht, Achens, Rotterdam, Den Haag... and some other places along that specific train route...

Anyone have any other suggestions of some places to go, that arent well known in holland?

I'm a foreigner in the Schengen area. Last year I was living in Holland. I went flat broke because of a housing problem and at the same time ended up with a €500 phone bill that I couldn't pay. Because of a circumstance out of my control, shortly afterwards I had to move to Belgium. I hadn't contacted my phone company again yet since I left the country, but my conscience hasn't let it go. I'm starting to earn some money and I want to pay that bill, but I don't have €500 to give at once yet and maybe I have fines to pay. I'm leaving Europe soon. While I don't yet have plans to return, I just want this solved, even if it means paying what I can long distance for awhile.

How can I get in touch with my phone company and gradually pay the bill without getting into trouble? (Assuming I don't have to solve this within 3 weeks, because that would be impossible)

I promise, 10 points for an honest, solution-oriented answer. Abusive/insulting replies and non-answers will be reported.

Not mega expensive but happy to pay around 150-180 euros! Clean, good breakfast, central location, decent sized room etc.

I just received a speeding ticket (57km on a 50km road) in The Netherlands on my last trip. The ticket is only 27 Euro's that I will pay. I'm worried that it will show on my (CLEAN )driving record. Has anybody been in the same situation ?

This is from my other question about how life is in Amsterdam.
I was planning to get an apartment in the city. If that is too much I am planning to find a small house somewhere in or outside the city. Last option I was thinking of is to maybe think about buying a store to make into a coffeehouse. (That coffeeshop maybe way into the future though)

I am 22 and have a 3 year old daughter and would like to get a job in the Netherlands so that I can use that to get a residence permit and a work permit. It seems simpler to have a company request the paperwork than to go there and do it yourself, you get much quicker results that way and more often than not a positive reply. I am fluent in Dutch, (reading and writing and speaking) so I'm hoping that will help me. Also, does anyone know how to go about getting a divorce (from a canadian marriage) when living in the Netherlands? Can that be done via fax or mail? Can anyone help? Thanks so much!

Hi Everybody,

I was wondering if anybody can tell me how Amsterdam is in early October (2nd week of Oct to be exact). By this I mean weather-wise, events, etc.

I'd also be interested in knowing inexpensive places to shop for clothes in AMS.

Thanks in advance!

I'm thinking about moving to Amsterdam in my future and am very excited to know what it is like. I haven't visited yet, but plan to in the next few years to figure out if I really want to go through with it. I do plan to eventually become a citizen too.

I heard that there was this european law that prohibited smoking in closed spaces of public places? I ask as I was thinking of going to a concert in the Ahoy stadium in Rotterdam, so I wanted to know. Can people smoke during the show and/or during the breaks? I have seen people smoking already in previous concerts in the Arena during the show, but it was some time ago. How is it now? Does anybody know? Thanks!
