Amsterdam in October?

Question

Hi Everybody,

I was wondering if anybody can tell me how Amsterdam is in early October (2nd week of Oct to be exact). By this I mean weather-wise, events, etc.

I'd also be interested in knowing inexpensive places to shop for clothes in AMS.

October may be rainy but not that cold. I suggest light long-sleeved tops and a waterproof jacket with a little bit of warmth which you can remove anytime you don't need them.

There are a lot of shopping options in A'dam downtown but I would start from the Bijenkorf: good quality products at reasonable prices. They also sell a selection of good clothes from the best European fashion producers and have helpful staff. The Bijenkorf is located at Dam Square. This is also not far from other shops and tourist attractions like the Madame Tusseau museum.

There are many interesting souvenir shops by the Bloemenmarkt (Flower Market) including this all-year-long Christmas shop. Also, be sure to take a boat in the famous Amsterdam canals and check out the museums. Fun in Amsterdam almost always has to do with finding which restaurant to dine at then going out bar hopping at night. They are famous for a lively nightlife. Like the guy before me, I also recommend watching the Boom Chicago standup comedy.

It could be rainy, and it's starting to get pretty cold.

Boom Chicago has improv shows in a club on the Leidseplein.

properly in october that is ordinarily raining in holland. i'd take some solid sweatshirts, yet in addition some shortsleaved shirts, the climate right here is amazingly unpredictable! interior the 1st halve that is sunny, and interior the top that is getting chillier, so longarmed shirts are ok too ;)

I went around the same time last year and it rained pretty much the whole time. It was very cold.
