I am spending a day with my friend from Amsterdam. I have already been to Amsterdam, Maastricht, Achens, Rotterdam, Den Haag... and some other places along that specific train route...

Anyone have any other suggestions of some places to go, that arent well known in holland?

If you stay in Amsterdam, there are many things you can visit that are within about an hour travel by train. Some examples:
Go to the 'Muiderslot' a castle in Muiden, just outside Amsterdam. Visit the cheesemarket in Alkmaar (40 min. from A'dam) and the 'Zaanse Schans' in Zaandam (15 min from A'dam). You can also check out www.holland.com to get some ideas.
Have Fun : )

oh yeah, make sure you try some of our cheese's and buy some 'stroopwafels' (syrup cookies)

Zeeland seems like a nice place. They're known to have a nice coast and nice food.

Other places along the coast that are pleasant include Noordwijk, Katwijk, and Zandvoort.

I've also heard that Fryslan is a culturally rewarding place to visit.

Go to paleis 't Loo. It's one of the palaces of the queen open to public. It was built in 1687. Really cool. Also go to the efteling in Kaatsheuvel if you plan on visiting an amusement park.

I lived in Leiden, it's a nice, college town. And in the Hague, my friend's parents lived in Scheveningen (try pronouncing that one). Read the book UnDutchables, it's pretty cute.
